Habito’s FSC®-certified wood furniture is environmentally approved.

Our workshop emerged from the vision of Giuseppe Rivadossi who, from the very outset, pursued the idea that “man is not an isolated individual, but an integral part of creation and its consciousness.” We believe that good design and construction come from the knowledge that our actions affect not only ourselves but also others in different ways.

Our furniture is made of FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified solid wood, a guarantee of responsible forest management. This non-governmental organisation has developed the first certification system for forest products, with the aim of promoting forest management that meets the needs of present and future generations. FSC® certification ensures ecologically appropriate, socially beneficial and economically sustainable forest management.

So as to further minimise the environmental impact of our sustainable wood furniture production, we have installed a photovoltaic system that covers most of our energy needs. We have also optimised the lighting with LED lamps and converted the heating to heat pumps. All the remaining energy that we use comes exclusively from renewable sources.

We design furniture from FSC®-certified wood with the awareness that beauty is not only a matter of aesthetics, but that it also includes tactile and ergonomic aspects. We pay special attention to surfaces, which must be soft and cosy to meet the body’s needs.

The exclusive use of wood, without substitutes, is another great advantage for the environment, as wood stores large quantities of carbon dioxide and requires little energy to be transformed. This material further contributes to environmental sustainability when used to create lasting works.
